Energy Efficiency Tips
Sharyland Utilities is committed to helping our customers become more energy efficient.
A 2010 study conducted by the Department of Energy revealed that space heating and cooling accounts for 54% of residential energy consumption. Other areas of high energy use are water heating (18%), appliances and electronics (9%), and lighting (6%). Though energy consumption has been on the rise over the past decade, the Energy Information Administration's 2012 Annual Energy Outlook forecast a 12% increase from 2010 to 2035 because of projected improvements in building and appliance efficiency (2010 Residential Primary Energy Consumption Report).
