Sharyland Utilities is unique in that we serve retail customers throughout Texas in both competitive and non-competitive segments of the state's electricity markets. For our customers, where they live determines how they buy their electricity.
Most of our customers are located in our Brady, Celeste, Colorado City, and Stanton service territories. These customers buy their electricity directly from us at regulated rates that are set by the Public Utility Commission of Texas.
However, we have a different relationship with our customers located in Sharyland Plantation, a community located along the Rio Grande border between the South Texas cities of Mission and McAllen. These customers buy their electricity in the competitive market from Retail Electric Providers (REPs), and Sharyland Utilities serves as the “wires only” company that carries the electricity from the generators to the end users.
